COEBURN — Kres VanDyke found his way back to victory lane on Saturday night after dominating the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car feature at Lonesome Pine Raceway.

Royce Peters and Keith Stiltner started on the front row for the night’s 60-lap LMSC feature.

Stiltner made his way to the lead on the opening lap with VanDyke charging into second place. Two laps later, VanDyke used the outside lane to take the lead.

He fought through several cautions, the last on lap 35 when he regained the lead on the final restart and never relinquished it for the victory.

“It’s been a heck of a day over here,” VanDyke said in a release from the racetrack. “This week’s been tough. We spent about all day on the scales.

“Appreciate everyone coming out tonight. Thanks to all my sponsors, fans and crews.”

Sam Hurd led the final 16 laps of the Modified Street feature to capture his first victory of the season. Jason Ketron also claimed his first win of the season in the Pure 4 event.

Other winners over the Labor Day weekend at LPR were Rocky Yates, who won in Mod 4 for the fifth time in 2015, Marty Tunnell in Pure Street and Ben Barker in the Rookie Pure 4 feature.

The season finale at Lonesome Pine Raceway is set for Saturday, Sept. 19.
