Six to be inducted into D-B Alumni Hall of Fame Oct. 22

Six to be inducted into D-B Alumni Hall of Fame Oct. 22

KINGSPORT — The seventh group of Dobyns-Bennett High School alumni will be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame next month.

Six D-B graduates, who donned a cap and gown at Kingsport’s high school in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, will be honored.

The D-B Alumni Association Board of Directors will hold the seventh Annual Alumni Hall of Fame luncheon at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center at 11 a.m Thursday, Oct. 22.

The honorees are D-B graduates who, in the years after graduation, “have distinguished themselves by their personal accomplishments in their chosen professions and of a greater significance in their service to their fellow citizens,” according to a news release from the assocaition.

The following alumni will be inducted at the luncheon:

— Michael L. Ainslie, Class of 1961;

— Robyn J. Askew, Class of 1974;

— Locke Yancey Carter, Class of 1954;

— Lois Patrick Young Dobyns, Class of 1954

— Anne B. Pope, Class of 1979; and

— Frederick Walton, Class of 1963.

The master of ceremonies will be pharmacist Barry J. Walton, D.Ph., Class of 1979.

The cost per person is $50 prior to Oct. 16. After that date the cost will be $60 at the door, but the association asks that folks RSVP by Oct. 16 if at all possible.

“So many Dobyns-Bennett graduates have made and are making tremendous contributions to society; the Dobyns-Bennett Alumni Association proudly acknowledges and honors the accomplishments of outstanding D-B graduates with their induction into the Dobyns-Bennett Alumni Hall of Fame,” alumni association President Linc Jarvis said. “I encourage everyone to learn more about this year’s six new Hall of Fame inductees and to join us in honoring these impressive Dobyns-Bennett alumni.”
