What Sanders and Trump have in common is an anti-establishment approach, and more than anything else, voters want something other than the practiced politicians who otherwise occupy the field. They trust neither party and with good reason.

Some may be critical of the $5,800 cost of several days of meetings the group held in Gatlinburg. At times, we've taken the Kingsport Board of Education and schools to task on spending and other issues. But this was money well spent.

And of the 19 violent crimes alleged to have occurred on the Greenbelt in the past three and one-half years, four were unfounded and nine involved a suspect known to the victim. Only six involved a complete stranger.
